Fitness 101: Gordie Style

I'm cute and fluffy.. but there's more! I'm also athletic. Here are my tips and tricks to staying in good shape!

My human mom does funny exercises everyday. She lays on the ground and tries to get up over and over again or she pushes herself up then doesn't stand up- and she does this over and over again... I give her kisses to motivate her and sit next to her to make her happier... but she just makes me move. So, I was thinking- other humans do this too and can't get up off the ground. Why don't I teach humans how to enjoy exercising and also be better at it? So here we go!
The most important thing about exercise is to enjoy what you are doing. Chase a squirrel or your tail. Run around the dining room table 100x. Play in the dirt. It all counts! You can do it!
Tip #1: Go outside for as much as you can every day. My rule of thumb is 5-6 hours outside at minimum, but I am an experienced outdoorsman so you might do less, like 4 hours. At first, human mom kept the door closed and did not understand this. Don't worry. I sang to her a lot and hit the door with my paw. Eventually she bought me a door that had a smaller door in it. That way I could hit my 5-6 hours a day for my health. Phew!

Tip #2: Always be happy exercising. Frisbee is life. I have about 10-12 on average. I store them everywhere because you never know when you will need them- under the couch, in mom's bed, in mom's flowers, under the car. Better safe than sorry right? Frisbee makes me feel like I can fly- have you ever felt so free that you feel you can fly? You should find something to do that makes you feel like this.
Tip #3: Go for a walk every day. This also took mom a long time to figure out. I had to go sit by my leash everyday and sing to her for a long before she figured it out. Now, she takes me and the hoo-bro everyday at night! Hoo-bro is in a box with wheels. That's probably good- he probably would get lost or something.
BUT, be careful.. if your human things you like walking too much you might have to run for long times with a lot of people to sniff. We ran in the road once and mom wouldn't let me sniff all of these people wearing papers on their shirts.. she just kept zooming past them. But, at the end they gave me a new heavy collar and took my picture.

Tip #4: Drink water while you exercise. I knocked my bowl over all the time because it was too small. Mom refilled it. I knocked it over again and put my toys in it- they did not fit well. This happened all the time. Finally, she bought me a HUGE bowl that my toys and me could fit in. She called it a "pool" I called it heaven.
Tip 5: Rest. Exercise is hard. Make sure to lay on the couch and relax. You really shouldn't share a couch either. That isn't helpful. I mean really spread out and stretch it all out to get ready for your 5-6 hours tomorrow.
