Sadness. This post should be called sadness. Grab some tissues.

My perch was set up by my mom. 4 pillows and one blanket is the best. It took a while to train mom to do this- she kept the blinds closed and made the bed everyday.. I had to unmake the bed and peek behind the curtains all the time. She finally realized how I wanted it. Training takes a while with humans. Anyways, my perch faces the backyard where the apple tree is- apples are good to bring in the house in the summer btw... mom yells about it so she has to like it right? Anywho...that is where HE hangs out. HE is Nubby the squirrel. Nubby only has 3 legs- he is missing the front one. I should be faster, right? You are about to hear the story of how my human brother being home more made me miss catching him today. As you can see he is always touching and distracting me... this is where the issue began.
My human brother was playing with some weird loud thing mom bought him and he was chasing me. It's like my human dads' grass cutter but it has round things that float out of it. I chased those but they taste like when I get a bath inside. Yuck! Hoo-bro thought it was a game I think.. was he trying to shake my paw with the loud little grass cutter? Didn't he know I was on patrol...I really need to teach him to patrol part of the yard... He is big enough now right?
Nubby was in the area. I could smell him. Sense him. I was dodging hoo-bro's loud thing and there he was on the car place where we leave out of. Tail wriggling. Peanut in is hand. Stare down 2.0.... I pointed my paw because I thought I should. It didnt help anything- why do other dogs do this? It does not stop the enemy!? Hoo-bro was coming with the toy, Nubby was staring at me, fluffy sister was lumbering over... I made the choice-CHARGE! I ran faster than I ever had before!!! Then..defeat.

The tall, puffy tree is his home. He made it this time. I stared at him for a long time hoping to look friendly enough for him to come down. I even sung a song to him trying to show I was nice and wanted to play. It did not work. He ate his peanut and dropped the shell on my head. Salt in the wound (and in my nose and ear).
Tomorrow is a new day. I will get him one day...
